Art awards
By a sytematic policy concerning art awards the Berlinische Galerie encourages – on its own and together with other institutions - the output of art in the capital. The museum itself awards the "Fred-Thieler-Preis für Malerei" (Fred Thieler Award for Painting) as well as the "Eberhard-Roters-Stipendium" (Eberhard Roters Award). In addition, it organizes the "Friedlieb-Ferdinand-Runge-Preis für unkonventionelle Kunstvermittlung" (Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge Award for an Exceptional Middleman in Art) awarded by the Stiftung Preußische Seehandlung, and the "Hannah-Höch-Preis" (Hannah Höch Award), provided by Berlin’s Senate Department of Science, Research, and Culture.
