Botschaften – Die Berlinische Botschaft. Ein Trajekt (Messages – The Berlinische message. A traject), 1996/1997

In 1997, the artist asked thirty museums from all over Germany, both east and west, for a statement on the place and role of art – a mirror of cultural understanding from the present into the future. These “muse and museum messages” are like an “exhibition hall without a solid building, a transparent museum of the future.” Today they line the path from the Jewish Museum through the street “Am Berlin Museum” to the plaza in front of the Berlinische Galerie. On one side of each sign one sees a statement, and on the other side, who sent it. A collage of visionary farsightedness and interior reflection, an “open model of communication that reflects the boundaries of art” – a good accompaniment to an exciting museum visit.
